The Washington, D.C. shooting occurred at the headquarters of the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) inside the Washington Navy Yard, where a former contractor opened fire on civilian and military personnel. It is the deadliest mass shooting in Washington, D.C. history and the second deadliest mass murder on a U.S. military base, behind the 2009 Fort Hood shooting.

This handcrafted miniature honors the Washington Navy Yard community with the same care and symbolism as its larger counterpart. Inspired by the iconic cherry blossom trees that bloom each spring along the Tidal Basin, the design reflects a vision of peace, renewal, and enduring beauty in the face of atrocity. Each piece serves as a quiet tribute to lives lost and a reminder of what we continue to hope for.

Limited Edition:
This is Edition 1 in a series of limited miniatures of the Washington, DC butterfly created by the Butterfly Art Collective. Within this edition are 12 individually crafted pieces, each one-of-a-kind in shape and detail. While united by a common design inspiration, no two are exactly alike—ensuring that every collector receives a singular work from this debut release. Each piece includes a numbered signed certificate of authenticity from the Butterfly Art Collective.

Materials:
Crystal clear resin, flexible clear resin, PLA filament, and hand-applied brass shavings. Each piece is cast, assembled, and finished in-studio with precision and care.

Design Variation:
Each mini butterfly in this edition is one of six unique silhouettes, with slight variations in composition. While all pieces are inspired by the Washington, D.C. design, no two are exactly alike—ensuring each collector receives a truly one-of-a-kind work of art. Shapes are distributed at random, adding an element of discovery to every order.

Dimensions:
Each butterfly shape varies slightly in size, ranging approximately from 4"–5.5" in width and 2.6"–3.3" in height, depending on the silhouette. Exact dimensions will vary.

Installation Instructions:
Each butterfly includes an embedded magnet and comes with a metal pin for versatile display. Simply place the butterfly on any magnetic surface, or insert the pin into a wall to create a seamless floating effect. Designed for easy, damage-free installation.

Care Instructions:
To preserve clarity and color, display out of direct sunlight. Dust gently with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid harsh cleaners or moisture exposure.
