Impact
GIFFORDS
The Butterfly Art Collective recognizes that vital, lasting change requires both grassroots mobilization and policy momentum. Our alliance with GIFFORDS champions school safety legislation and community violence intervention (CVI) programs to safeguard citizens from this uniquely American crisis. When we unite behind a common cause, lawmakers respond to this collective voice, transforming public sentiment into impactful policy reform.
Founded by former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, who survived a 2011 assassination attempt while meeting with constituents, GIFFORDS works at federal, state, and local levels to advance policies to save lives. Their approach brings together diverse voices—including gun owners, veterans, law enforcement, and community leaders—to shift conversation from divisiveness to collaborative problem-solving. They advocate for solutions that respect Second Amendment rights while prioritizing community safety.
Education
SANDY HOOK PROMISE
We are dedicated to empowering the next generation with a campaign that transcends art. Beyond the passive clicks of social media and well before they reach voting age, Resilience teaches children they possess meaningful agency now. By fostering civic literacy today, we are nurturing the active citizens and leaders of tomorrow, developing their confidence, critical thinking, and commitment to remain civically engaged throughout their lives. We have found no organization that leads this charge quite like Sandy Hook Promise.
Sandy Hook Promise supports schools, districts, state education agencies, and youth-serving organizations across the United States with practical, easy-to-implement programs that align with character education, bullying prevention, social emotional learning (SEL), and much more. Their comprehensive suite of violence prevention programs educates and empowers students, educators, families and caregivers to play an active role in ending school shootings and other forms of violence.
Collective Philanthropy
Our approach gives people access to the practice of philanthropy across a range of means. Rather than relying on a small number of large donors, our model brings together many people, contributing at different levels toward a unified cause—because lasting change is rarely the work of one.
Each artwork purchased from the Resilience campaign directly supports our partner organizations. By collecting these pieces, supporters pool their contributions into a shared effort, amplifying impact while taking home a tangible object that carries both beauty and purpose—a reminder of having made a meaningful contribution.

Collector’s Edition 1
Each butterfly in the Resilience campaign represents a story of transformation, remembrance, and hope. The Newtown, CT shooting occurred on December 14, 2012, when a gunman took the lives of 26 individuals, including 20 young children, at Sandy Hook Elementary School. It remains the deadliest mass shooting in Connecticut history and the deadliest at an elementary school in U.S. history.
This handcrafted miniature honors the Sandy Hook community with the same care and symbolism as its larger counterpart. The butterfly reflects the innocence and vibrancy of the lives lost through its playful details. Colorful fingerprints line the wings, symbolizing each child’s unique identity and standing as a direct rebuttal to the conspiracy theories that denied their very existence. Magnetic letters, paper clips, star stickers, and teddy bears evoke the classroom and the creative spirit of young minds. The teddy bears also recall the thousands sent to Newtown as a powerful symbol of collective grief and compassion. Each piece serves as a quiet tribute to lives lost and a reminder of what we continue to hope for.
This is Collector’s Edition 1 in a series of limited miniatures created by the Butterfly Art Collective. Within this edition are 12 individually crafted pieces, each one-of-a-kind in shape and detail. While united by a common design inspiration, no two are exactly alike—ensuring that every collector receives a singular work from this debut release. Each piece includes a numbered and stamped certificate of authenticity from the Butterfly Art Collective.

Collector’s Edition 1
Each butterfly in the Resilience campaign represents a story of transformation, remembrance, and hope. The Killeen, TX shooting occurred on October 16, 1991, at Luby’s Cafeteria, where a gunman opened fire, killing 23 people and injuring many others. Driven by hatred toward women, he specifically targeted female victims during the attack, with the majority of those killed being women.
This handcrafted miniature honors the Killeen community with the same care and symbolism as its larger counterpart. The butterfly features overlapping and interconnecting female symbols and circles, representing the lives of the women targeted as well as the collective strength of women as a whole. Embedded within the wings are resin “glass” shards and pearl necklaces, referencing the women’s suffrage movement and symbolizing both empowerment and resilience. Each piece serves as a quiet tribute to lives lost and a reminder of what we continue to hope for.
